Job Summary:

This employee is responsible for performing a wide variety of clerical tasks required in the daily operations of the Dayton Early College Academy. This position reports to the building principal.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet and work effectively with the public;
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all employees;
  • Ability to manage confidential information;
  • Knowledge of office procedures and school district procedures;
  • Excellent organizational skills;
  • Effective oral and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to improvise and work through uncertainties;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Google Docs, and other related software and technology;
  • Leadership skills;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
 

Desired Qualifications:

  • High school diploma;
  • Knowledge of eSchool system
  • Knowledge of EMIS reporting and procedures


Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Receiving/directing visitors;
  • Answering calls and directing to appropriate staff;
  • Inputting, monitoring and reporting student data in eSchool:
  • Daily attendance;
  • Maintain family contact information;
  • Maintain office referrals;
  • Tracking students entering and leaving the building (Sinclair, job shadows, internships, etc.);
  • Maintaining accurate student phone numbers in DECA’s One Call system;
  • Preparing memos and other forms of correspondence (e.g. newsletters);
  • Compiling data under supervision;
  • Maintaining off-campus lunch eligibility;
  • Requisitioning and inventorying office supplies;
  • Performing work requiring decisions and notification of key personnel;
  • Filing correspondence and records;
  • Operating and maintaining office equipment;
  • Providing EMIS assistance to EMIS coordinator as needed;
  • Monitoring leave requests in employee kiosk;
  • Coordinating teacher coverage (i.e. substitue teachers);
  • Coordinating suspension appeal and expulsion hearings;
  • Periodically transport students complying with traffic ordinances and school transportation policy; 
  • Performing other duties as required.

Working Environment:

Workplace locations include:

  • School, activity center, outdoor play areas;
  • Retreat/field sites; and
  • Other environments as deemed necessary/appropriate.

Terms of Employment:

  • 260 days
  • Salary to be determined based on experience and education level.
  • All staff members are issued one-year contracts.

Physical demands:

  • While performing the duties of his/her job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and/or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.

Additional Working Conditions:

  • The noise level in this work environment is quiet to loud depending on the activity and location.
  • Working conditions for this job include (1) possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue; and (2) occasional operation of a motor vehicle to transport students.
